英语经典句型：It is not that..., but that...

基本结构是：
It is not that A, but that B.
可以理解成：并不是 A，而是 B。

这个句型的重点不是否定前半句，而是把真正原因放到后半句。写作时可以先想中文：“不是因为……而是因为……”，再套进英文结构。
使用提醒
这个句型最容易写错的地方，是把后半句写得太弱。前半句已经否定了一个表面原因，后半句就必须给出真正原因，否则整句话会显得没有落点。比如你说“并不是我不努力”，后面最好接一个更具体的解释：“而是方向一直没有被校准”。这样读者才能明白你真正想强调什么。
写作时还要注意，A 和 B 最好属于同一类问题。不要前半句讲情绪，后半句突然跳到时间；不要前半句讲个人选择，后半句突然跳到外部环境。两边越平衡，句子越有力量。
